Yoga is an ancient science of health and wellness. The benefits include a strong body, clear mind and calmness that reflects the joy and peace that resides in the core of each one of us. The word yoga means to yoke, unify or connect. Practicing yoga guides us on a path that allows us to make connections to our most authentic self and to others, helping us to live to our full potential.
There are many branches of yoga: including service, meditation, chanting mantra, philosophy, love and devotion. Hatha yoga is the branch that includes postures, breath control, cleansing processes and mental concentration. It provides a way to have a healthy body as a foundation for balancing the mind and emotions for self-inquiry and expanded awareness.
Our vision is to provide opportunities that will celebrate these many branches of thought and practice through direct experience. The Island Yoga Space is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide a sacred space for teaching and building community. Our island has a wealth of teachers and students who are passionate about sharing this journey and we invite you to come and play, celebrate, teach and learn. Come and shine…
